Fish and Prawn Soup. Damage? $10.00 for the smallest portion.
See what I mean? The Uncle aka Chef, cooks each portion one at a time, and this definitely adds to the wait. The phrase "It's not the quantity but quality" really applies true here!
Not your average bowl of fish soup definitely, by the looks of the price tag.
But boy, oh boy, it is so worth it.
This! A dipping sauce mix of tau cheo, ginger, garlic and chilli padi, adds so much depth (yes, spoken like an atas food review, hah) to the flavour of the superbly fresh seafood. There is even a note stuck at the stall reminding patrons to only TAKE WHAT YOU NEED - additional portion will be charged at $0.50 per dish.
45 minutes later...... ta dah!
There is homemade fried garlic and shallots added to the soup, along with the oil that was used to fry them with. Nothing beats a little bit extra labour of love.
This was the $10.00 portion (small), big enough a bowl for a small eater.
Medium goes for $12.00, while large goes for $15.00. Oh, a bowl of rice is $0.50.
Please come armed with a tonne load of patience, a not-so-hungry-stomach and stamina to stand in line for the next 30-50 minutes of your life.
