Christmas Eve with FYR - Reddy's Solo Adventure

Not content with spending Christmas Eve on solo mode, armed with a rumbling tummy and grit determination with each step in the rain (snow we have not, so rain it shall be then), Reddy headed off to FYR for a feel-good-makan. Probably one of the very few places that did not implement the compulsory Christmas dinner menu (with an equally compulsory burn-a-hole-in-the-pocket-pricing), FYR charge the usual $25.00 ($29.42 with taxes) for their monthly changing set lunch menu. Food was good, just as Reddy's first visit was. And it certainly lent some much needed warmth to the otherwise very dreary and depressing wet and grey Christmas Eve.

Who can resist oozy flowy egg yolk?? This starter was absolutely lip smacking good - the SAUCE! Oh, the SAUCE! Salted Egg Beurre Blanc, a match made in heaven! Smooth, creamy and buttery and the best part, they provide you with a spoon to scoop up every single drop of sauce (well at least that was what I used it for!)


Drinks? 



Turkey Breast Cutlet with Lemongrass Lime Leaves, Farcies, Mixed Berry Sauce. The turkey had a lovely smokey aroma (courtesy of the fired up Lychee Wood in their special Josper oven). Underneath the slabs of protein, there were bits of gnocchi-like, chewy bits of I'm-Not-Sure-What, which were so darn delicious!


This... This I loved! As Gordon Ramsay once said "In cooking, it's not how you start, it's how you finish". And this indeed was the highlight of the meal. Sticky Date Pudding and Vanilla Ice Cream with Cashew Nuts (my favourite) and Ginger Toffee Sauce (Ginger, another favourite. Toffee too, another favourite!!). There was that pungent, spicy "oomph" that kicks in at the back of your mouth, just at the end of each taste on the tongue. Perfect for my rainy day Christmas eve.
