RaRa and Reddy Goes To Potato Head Bali!

I should learn to not procrastinate. In a blink of an eye, it's been 12 months since our vacay to the gorgeously awe-inspiring Bali. Well this has to be the longest trip for us.. 9 days was it? Armed with a list of to-go-places (which unfortunately was not even close to half the list checked off) and enthusiasm to the max, we embarked on our long delayed vacay. And what visit to Bali is complete without a trip down to the mother of all Bali beach clubs - Potato Head Beach Club! So here we go.. Or rather, read about how it went down that day, 12 months ago. Haha. Better late than never I would say :)

Here's the gang chillin' by the pool. And oh, the awesome backdrop is da bomb.

Almost there............

Short walk down from Jalan Pettinget

Who'd ever thought of this? The idea of using antique louvre window shutters to encompass the exterior of the building complex is simply mind blowing.

Quintessential beach grubs

Nothing like a huge drink of fresh coconut juice on a gorgeously sunny day like this

The colors are so vivid, the reds, against the shades of blue of the ocean.
So beautiful I want to cry!

The chicken wings were a cracker of a dish. Simple, delicious and chock full of flavors.

The coconut was so huge I was practically stuffed even before I could get started with the other stuff.

Unfortunately the daybeds were all booked, and the lengthy waitlist was a downer for us time-conscious folks. Oh well, next time round then. Afterall, you can never have enough of Bali.

How is possible, for food to be so "picturesque"??

Love the little box the bill comes in. Kinda nifty, it is afterall always breezy by the beach, this helps keep the bill from flying off into the blue yonder. Haha

Damage for the day, approximately $54. That's not too bad

Gorgeous setting, perfect backdrop, friendly and warm service, good food, sunshiney day, gentle breeze. = PERFECTION

There are 4 F&B options in this expansive complex - Sunset Pizza, Kaum (restaurant serving Indonesian cuisine), Potato Head Restaurant and Potato Head Bar. If you can, do come by during the earlier part of the day (cue less crowd).

There is also a hotel just steps away from the beach club, Katamama Hotel. Also designed by the same genius behind Potato Head, Andra Matin, Katamama features the use of  a staggering number of 1.5 million hand-pressed Balinese bricks. These red bricks are traditionally used for holy temples, but here, it is celebrated in contemporary form and it was done with understated panache, aptly enough to pay homage to the dying art of these handmade beauties. Perhaps our next trip will feature a stay here, fingers crossed :)
