When Reddy Goes For A Treat - Violet Herbs @ Tras Street ***Closed. Updated Aug 2017***

Tras Street is one of the few last surviving enclave of conservation buildings. This area was once known to be dingy and notorious, no points for guessing of what sort. Today the quiet stretch of street is home to some of the finest new food and beverage establishments, serving an exciting array of cuisines ranging from Italian, Japanese, French and the works. Violet Herbs is located right at the start of the street, and is possibly quite difficult to miss! According to their website, they describe themselves as a "new age semi-formal fine dining restaurant", serving authentic modern European cuisine (of Italian and French influence). And what sets them apart from the rest? The use of herbs in all their food and signature cocktails.
Foie Gras for lunch. Why not?

Foie Gras for lunch? Oh, please, yes. This is being overindulgent at it's best.

The decor stayed true to it's namesake of violet. So did my shoes!

Would have preferred a darker interior but this was quite refreshing.

This was a welcome treat indeed! Can't quite remember the name, but I believe it to be crab springroll? Love the sweet dipping sauce!

Am a sucker for bread, especially freshly baked ones. This was a Saffron Bun with what could be a hint of mustard seed? The green herbed butter complimented the bread perfectly.

Entree of Roasted and Poached Foie Gras, with Shitake Mushroom, Raspberry Reduction and Mirin Shoyu. The Foie Gras was melt-in-your-mouth-soft, buttery and had this distinct rich creamy aftertaste. The Mirin Shoyu added a another dimension of sweet and salty. Only gripe is, that the dish could with a bit more of the lovely Raspberry Reduction for some extra tartness and zing, just to cut through the richness a wee bit.

Ohh, this was such a beauty! Palate cleanser of a simple Lychee Sorbet with sectioned slices of orange.

Marinated Red Miso Cod (from the Set Lunch menu @ $32.00++), there is a top-up amount of $8.00 each for this dish and the Sous Vide Wagyu Beef Cheek, should you decide to opt for the more "atas" option.

Main of Marinated Red Miso Cod, served with Roasted Pumpkin Puree, Almond Eggplant and Mixed Herbs. Have always been a fan of cod fish. The fish is done just right, with the right amount of char on the outside while keeping the inside moist and juicy. The Almond Eggplant however didn't work too well with the other components of the dish, perhaps the almond needs a little bit more roasting time? Despite one tiny hiccup, the Pumpkin Puree was sheer heaven - buttery and silky smooth.

Dessert of Apple Strudel - Filo Pastry, Thyme Ice Cream, Cherries and Toffee Sauce.

This is a more flattering shot of the dish. Loved the ice cream, it certainly lent a very comforting creamy note to the piping hot apple filling and crispy pastry.
