Let's Experiment - The Lab SG @ Jalan Pisang **Closed as of 19 January 2018**

T'was to be a girls-catch-up session, but alas, unforseen circumstances decreased the party to just 2 BFFs. Was tasked with "Any place as long as it is halal" request, me trawled my favourite go-to reads from Danielfooddiary and Miss Tam Chiak for some reliable intel. And... I pitched the a few suggestions to the BFF and we concluded that The Lab SG shall be it for the evening. BFF have also heard good stuff about them from word of mouth and that kinda built the standard to expect. Located at the very hip, very IN location of Arab Street enclave (well actually a bit off the epicentre at Jalan Pisang), The Lab SG has joined the ever growing list exciting halal eateries who have made this area home.

Heisenberger, so this is called. So Instagram worthy! Going at only $12.90 a portion, this is value for money indeed. Constructed of a 6oz homemade Beef patty, Bacon strip, Grilled onion, Tomato salsa, Mesclun salad and blanketed with Melted Bleu Cheese (yes, Blue Cheese, and no, it did not stink). Anddd.. there is even the company of Sweet Potato Fries. They are definitely giving 'em big boys a run for their money with this.

We sashayed from Bras Basah Complex, down to Arab Street, Bussorah Street before we seeked Mr Google Map for help. And pfft, it's just across the road from Sultan Mosque.

Pretty!

This ain't nothing much. Wait till you see what inside..

Living up to the laboratory theme

Distressed wood is oh-so-cool

So this is how it goes. Have a seat, look through the menu, decide, get up and head to the counter and place and pay for your order.

We just had to order something that had a syringe. Can't remember this concoction but the blue "chemical" in the syringe is Blue Curacao. That I remember.

Spices in test tubes, very creative

Water corner for you to help yourselves..

Homemade German Pretzels @ $6.00 for a pair. Comes with either Salted Caramel or Chocolate Dip (or you can have both as well if you are undecided, just top up $1.00) and Whipped Butter. The pretzels were soft, fragrant and pairs remarkably well with the Salted Caramel (there are chunks of sea salt in 'em liquid ember). Worth coming back to more.

The Heisenberger. The Sweet Potato Fries were addictive! Crispy on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside, just how perfect fries should be. It was so good I did not bother to dunk it in the ketchup on the side. We shared the portion as both were watching waistlines (pains of being a woman) and one have a wedding dress to fit into in 3 weeks time.

The Beef Patty was moist, succulent, and is blushing pink in the center. Although it could do with a weee bit more seasoning, it was still pretty darn good!
