Swissotel The Stamford

Was once dubbed the "Tallest Hotel In The World" (JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is now the world's tallest hotel). Swissotel Stamford is equipped with 1261 guest rooms and suites, 15 restaurants and bars. This is also home to the Equinox dining complex, where you wine and dine with unsurpassed bird's eye view of the city and beyond. Swissotel has one of the best locality, with the City Hall Mrt just underground and with shopping and eateries galore at Raffles City Shopping Center and Suntec City all within reach.

Classic Room with a bird's eye view of the Singapore landscape.

What a typical standard room looks like. One of the few hotels in the city that offers such a huge expanse of space. Note the killer view! Unfortunately, the door leading to the balcony is locked. For safety reasons I suppose..

We were told that all the rooms are booked out. Like, the whole LittleRedDot's citizens are escaping the May Day holly and that we can only have our room ready at 4.00pm. Sigh, since that's the case, we then went up to Equinox at 70th Floor for Afternoon Tea. Well that's another story altogether.....(Click on Equinox for the pictorial commentary on our Facebook page)

No, no pictures of the bathroom. Guess it was that unimpressive to remember to take any!

There is something about hotels and their beds! The linen is soft and oh-so-smooth!
The view from the 66th floor. Whoa.

Please note that some of the lower rates offered in their online booking does not include breakfast. Can't remember the exact, but we paid $80-ish for breakfast for an adult and a child. Ouch. But the spread is extensive, perfect for big eaters. Small eaters like us don't win unfortunately. Breakfast is typically served at Cafe Swiss (with an equally good view of the street as with Equinox up at 70th floor).

Meat Station

The Eggs Station.
The Scrambled Eggs are good, for something made en masse, it stays creamy and soft and does not feel like it's been left out too long.

The deeper pool
Penne Carbonara for lunch, by the pool.
Like a boss.

Fairmont shares the same pool premises as Swissotel
Overall verdict, rooms are just ok-ish. The guest rooms and facilities are outdated and are in need of refurbishment (for the price that is equivalent to newer and better hotels). Only Equinox seems worthwhile a visit. But for those not overly picky and just looking for a quick escape, then Swissotel will be a good choice.
